It’s easy to let time pass by when you’re schlepping to your job that you love too much, but then Friday comes and you grab that ice cold beer (or in my case, cider), and everything is forgotten. All of the times you got pinged at work, the nagging supervisors, and dumb coworkers who you don’t even know how they even got hired.

Maybe you’re heading home by train, bus, subway…or maybe you’re stuck in traffic (hopefully not texting and driving though) and realize that you didn’t catch up on your brew news for the week. Don’t worry! I have you covered. I thought I’d share with you the very first weekly News on Tap, a quick overview of what’s going on in the beer world.

 

Pabst is returning to its legendary Milwaukee brewery

Pabst Brewing Company, which has been sold twice in the last five years and is now based in Los Angeles, plans to reopen its Milwaukee brewery.

Toolbox Brewing, San Diego’s First 100% Wild Brewery

Toolbox Brewing (which opened in September of 2014) expanded its line to consist of ales brewed with wild yeasts and bacteria, making it San Diego’s first wild brewery.

Saint Archer getting into cider business

Ian Anderson
Saint Archer Brewing Co., founded in 2013, expanded square footage, distribution, production volume, and now plans to become San Diego’s first to commercially produce hard cider. Six packs of cider could be on shelves by early 2016.

It comes to no surprise that the newest (and my personal favorite) craft category that made a comeback in 1991 is the fastest growing category in the industry, and that would be Hard Cider. Local orchard ciders and even big industry companies are expanding their product line to cider, and if you’re a brewer, so should you.
