Long Island Craft Beer Week Starts Today

Today marks the first day of Long Island Craft Beer Week (LICBW), ten days celebrating the businesses in the growing craft beer community on Long Island, while supporting Long Island Cares, a non-profit that fights hunger in Nassau and Suffolk county.

To raise awareness for Long Island Cares, 11 Long Island breweries collaborated to brew this year’s limited-release Craft Cares beer, a 7% ABV Vermont-style IPA. By donating two cans of food to LI Cares, you can receive a 16 oz can during LICBW (one can per person, while supplies last).

Aside from your donations, check out some events during LICBW including, the 2nd Annual Beerfest with Music from Miles to Dayton, Great South Bay’s Bay Fest (I will be pouring a gluten-reduced sweet stout for Handgrenades & Homebrew Craft Beer Club), Hotel Indigo Cooking with Crooked, and Beer + Yoga at BrickHouse Brewery. For a full schedule of events, visit http://longislandcraftbeerweek.com/events/

Last, but certainly not least, LICBW added a new app available for Apple and Android devices, which I’m pretty excited about. The app allows you to browse through breweries via map, learn about events in the area, take notes, and so much more.

Support your local breweries and Long Island Cares, especially this week. I hope to see you at some of these events.
