2017 Long Island Craft Beer Week

This Friday marks the first day of Long Island Craft Beer Week (LICBW), a nine-day celebration of local breweries in Nassau and Suffolk. Local businesses in the industry celebrate LICBW with tastings, events, special promotions, and LICBW’s free Pint Glass Pickup available at Bobbique, The Tap Room,  Rudi’s, Parlay Gastropub,  Eat Gastropub, or Tap and Barrel.

Just as previous years, breweries teamed up to brew a collaborative Craft Cares for the “Can for a Can” food drive. This year Blue Point Brewing Co., BrickHouse Brewing, 1940’s Brewing Co., Barrage Brewing Co., Twin Fork Beer, Sand City Brewing Co., Port Jeff Brewing Co., Spider Bite Brewing Co., and Great South Bay Brewery brewed a limited-release red ale at Blue Point Brewery last month. By donating two cans of food to LI Cares, you can receive a 16 oz can during LICBW (one can per person, while supplies last). According to the LICBW website, proceeds will go to Long Island Cares (LIC), which benefits the hungry and food insecure on Long Island. In 2016, LICBW raised over 2,300 pounds of food and over $2,000 for LIC.
